In such relationships, the so-called push-and-pull dynamic occurs again and again. It can happen that people with an ambivalent attachment style push their partners away from them out of fear of closeness ("pull") or withdraw themselves. The respective partners do not wait for the counter-reaction. They then try to withdraw the partner again ("pull"). Some people also start to cling to such situations. But it can also be that the ambivalent part of the relationship begins to "pull" - for example, when the fear of losing the partner through their own behaviour sets in. Such behavior can frustrate partners who often perceive people with an ambivalent attachment style as contradictory.
