Jealousy is a secondary emotion. What does that mean? It comes second. And it comes after the basic emotion, for example, after fear. Such a basic emotion occurs directly when we are in a certain situation. But we can't or don't always want to show it directly. At some point we learned to suppress the primary emotion. That's why secondary emotions come to the surface - like jealousy, for example.

What you can do when jealousy gets the better of you:

*   Admit to yourself that you are jealous
*   Be aware of your jealous thoughts - and distinguish between your intuition and the fear of being abandoned.
*   Understand that you cannot control your partner
*   Acknowledge that you are good enough
*   Talk honestly about your feelings in your relationship
