**Female empowerment is based, among other things, on the idea of giving women the opportunity for more self-determination. This also involves breaking out of old and outdated thought patterns.

#### 1. Understanding what's going on

The key to having more power over yourself is reflection. This is the art, the task and the ability to recognize your own situation and look at yourself in the mirror: What drives you? Where do your doubts come from? How do you deal with criticism and setbacks? What does "being a woman" mean to you? To answer these questions, it helps to check your self-image. #### 2. Recognize your needs

In order to act on your needs, it's important to know them too. Often we feel uncomfortable, but can't pinpoint exactly what it is. We also often feel needs, such as always taking care of others, that may not come from within ourselves but have something to do [with social norms](https://app.hellodearest.io/article/female-empowerment-all-genders-are-strong). #### 3. Set priorities

There are always people who think that other people's needs are more important than their own. Old role clichés play a role here: the woman takes care of everything! And if she doesn't, this is considered selfishness. But this is not so. Because only when we can be there for ourselves can we also be there for others appropriately.

#### 4. Set boundaries

It is important that we learn to set our boundaries to protect ourselves. Too much work, too many emotions, too many negative influences - all of these can quickly become too much. That makes it all the more important to set boundaries. And, almost more importantly, to enforce them!

 #### 5. Try not to please everyone

You can't please everyone. And that's why you don't have to be nice to everyone. It's a common misconception that being nice earns us endless sympathy. Above all, the "good girl narrative," according to which women and girls are always nice, caring and sweet, is outdated. Yet it continues to be served up to us through movies, books and series. Here's the thing: The next time you feel the urge to please everyone, try to figure out where that urge is coming from.

#### 6. Take Responsibility for Your Actions

Most of the things we do, we don't have to do. Rather, we choose to do them. We have the privilege of living in a society where we are free to make decisions about most things: Career, education, and personal life. When we don't like doing something, we like to hide behind the mantra "I just have to do it." Do we really have to? Most of the time we don't. Female empowerment also means taking things into your own hands.

#### 7. Strengthen your self-confidence

#### 8. Accept that you're not perfect.

Even if the flat stomach, the most beautiful hairstyle, the greatest laugh, the deepest balance and the most charming smile seem desirable: they are only illusions. And trying to chase them will make you unhappy in the long run. If you learn to accept yourself, you'll come much closer to feeling happy.
